ʔaq̓am Flood Watch Update
– May 29, 2026 @ 15:00 (3:00 PM)
ʔaq̓am Council and Administration is aware of the Flood Watch issued for the East Kootenay Region.
Due to high water levels, premade sandbags will be available at the end of the pavement (Lot 31, across from Chris Joseph’s). The Operations team will have a truck and trailer with premade sandbags if delivery is required over the weekend.
Community members are welcome to self-fill sandbags to take for yourself or stack for other community members in preparation of rising water levels.
Staff continue to monitor the flood marker stakes. A daily update will be provided.
Fast-flowing rivers pose increased risk to safety. Stay away from rivers and river banks, which can be unstable. Never drive through floodwaters, as unseen hazards and current can be life threatening.
