– June 2, 2026 @ 3:00 pm
ECCC Weather Update
The low-pressure system that brought significant rainfall to the region continues to move northeast. Over the past 72 hours, Cranbrook has received approximately 27.8 mm of rain.
• A slight chance of showers remains today.
• There are no active weather alerts currently in effect.
• There is a risk of isolated thunderstorms over the weekend; however, overall rainfall amounts are not expected to be significant.
River Forecast Centre Update
The River Forecast Centre reports that river conditions continue to improve:
•River levels remain elevated and caution is still advised around waterways.
•Current trends show water levels gradually receding.
•With the improving trend, it is anticipated that some advisories may be lifted as early as tomorrow.
•Snowpack levels in our area remain high, meaning there is still considerable snow remaining at higher elevations.
•While immediate flood concerns are easing, future heat events could accelerate snowmelt and create renewed pressure on rivers and streams later in the season.
Community Monitoring
Infrastructure staff continue to monitor river conditions and flood stakes throughout the community. Currently, conditions appear stable and continue to show gradual improvement.
Boil Water Advisory
The Boil Water Advisory for the affected 13 homes will remain in place at this time. Additional water quality testing is planned once river levels have receded further and conditions stabilize. Staff will be delivering drinking water to the affected homes over the coming days. If any other residents are experiencing water quality issues, including dirty or discoloured water, please contact the Band Office so we can assess the situation and provide support as needed.
Infrastructure staff will continue to monitor conditions closely. Sandbags and sand remain available should they be required. As always, please exercise caution around rivers, creeks, and streambanks, particularly with children, as banks remain unstable and water conditions can change quickly.
As the situational risk continues to decrease and conditions stabilize, daily flooding updates will now be discontinued. Should conditions change or new concerns arise, updates will be provided as needed
