An elk was found on top of the Rez with its head removed and multiple bullet wounds, appearing to have been used for target practice.
This is unacceptable and does not reflect community values or the reciprocal stewardship of ʔa·kxam̓is q̓api qapsin (all living things). Hunting carries responsibility to the animal, to the land, and to each other.
We remind all hunters to act with respect and ensure that every animal harvested is treated with dignity and properly utilized.
If you know anything about the incident, please report it to the Band office.
