River Update

FLOOD WATCH 2026
As of June 3, the High Streamflow Advisory for the East Kootenay has ended. The BC River Forecast Centre says rivers have reached peak levels from earlier rainfall and snowmelt. Stable and improving conditions are expected through the week; however, community are urged to continue to exercise caution around all waterways and stay back from all stream and riverbanks as water levels will remain high for a few days yet.
BOIL WATER NOTICE
- June 4, 2026 – A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains for the 13 homes
A BOIL WATER NOTICE TELLS YOU THAT:
- There are organisms in the water that can make you sick.
- To safely consume (swallow) the water, you must bring it to a rolling boil on a stovetop for at least 60 seconds to kill these harmful organisms, or use an alternate, safe source of water
ONCE THE WATER IS BOILED FOR AT LEAST 60 SECONDS AND COOLED DOWN AGAIN, YOU CAN USE IT FOR:
- Drinking
- Brushing your teeth
- Washing and preparing food
Once turbidity level drop, wells will undergo comprehensive testing
WATER QUALITY NOTICE
- June 4, 2026 – A Water Quality Advisory remains in effect for the remainder of the community due to high turbidity levels as a result of spring freshet (runoff).
A WATER QUALITY ADVISORY TELLS YOU THAT:
- There is some level of risk associated with consuming the drinking water, but a boil water notice is not needed.
- The risk is elevated for people with weakened immune systems.
WATER QUALITY ADVISORIES MAY BE ISSUED FOR VARIOUS REASONS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- A potential long-term health risk such as exposure to water contaminants over long periods of time that could result in illness
- Routine maintenance work on the water supply system
- Turbidity (the cloudiness of water
